Senses- The Week in Review

Every week I read Emily’s 5 senses review and I read where she invites everyone to participate and I think – I really should do that, it looks like fun- and then I don’t… But this week I have decided to try it.
I hear: Tori Amos singing away. I have put my iPod on Tori and all- yum. I love the lady.
I see: Crafty goodness. I have been all about playing with paper and paint this week. I keep seeing ideas and colors and it makes me want to play more- so I do and wow it has been fun. I am especially loving some of the new colors I am falling in love with- golds, reds, and turquoise. yum again.

I touch: Dirt. We have been digging in the dirt this week and wow has it been fun. We are working on planting a garden so that meant a lot of time spent with my hands in the dirt. I forgot how much fun that is.
I taste: A white pie made by Jon. Most every Friday we have pizza night and this week Jon made a white pie with home made pesto and so much wonderful cheese. It was amazing.
I smell: Honeysuckle. While wandering around this week we found some growing and it smells divine. Nothing quite like it.
Howling…
it don't so i shall
Trying…
Trying this week to get the thoughts in my head all into one place- so, of course, I needed a new notebook to do this. Tis part of the process- truly. So I have been thinking about all of the things that I enjoy and want to be involved in. The list is quite long really. I borrowed Jon’s idea and decided to make this my book of awesome.
I am really trying to avoid the traditional when thinking about work that I want to do. The traditional certainly has its lure, but I am in the position to try something different…. but what? Now, that I have the time to dedicate to all the things I have been saying that I want to have time for I feel very scatterbrained and unsure.
So this week I have been creating- yes- and being gentle with myself. Because a change this big doesn’t happen all at once and I have so far spent the better part of my life being convinced that one needs a traditional job in order to be – safe, secure, successful, blah, blah, blah- a lot of b.s. really when I look at it in print.
So I am trying- and that is all anyone can do.
Stuffed Creatures- Meet Injured George
This is Injured George, created by Sonja Ahlers and her Etsy shop is called Makeitawesome and she does indeed. George here is awesome.
Butterflies in my Brain
I sit today, drink tea and listen to the rain. I am going through old poetry listening to a voice that was once so familiar. The rain is lovely and drenching and it smells sweet in the air. Thunder rumbles occasionally – just to say hello.
I went and bought a new notebook today. “Did I need more paper?” you ask. Well, no truly- but I wanted something blank and new and so I went and wandering around the bookstore collecting ideas and then after a bit walked out with a fresh, clean Moleskine sketchbook- because truly it is the only thing that will do.
So now I listen to the rain and try to figure out a way to collect all the butterflies that are fluttering about in my brain. They are seem so different- so unconnected and yet I have a feeling that they must come together- all of these thoughts.
I have the urge to make it whole. To set out on a new endeavour- but I am seeking a new way to do this. I don’t want to turn to someone else- be it book or job description to sort out each step… I want to wander the course myself. Though I must confess that I am at a bit of a loss for this. But you can’t really know where you are going when wandering… so I shall try to get comfortable with the idea.
Truly, feeling all over the place, but tis a good day for that I suppose.
Learning Early
Learning Early- 1998
She’s learning her mode of transportation early
in the playground
riding around on a broom.
They’ll curse you for this later.
She’s got no idea.
But in this part of the story she
plays not the fairy princess
she plays not the winch in rags
turned to riches
Why sleep when one could be building
a house made of sugar
to taunt the Unsuspecting
Charmings into the sugar coated ginger bread door
Learn early honey Perfect the Broom
and take to the sky
you’ll never hear the curses
From so High above Riding your broom
and your spell of Indifference
draped across your back
Don’t Forget the Spell
to keep you from melting in Rain
and write me when you
Get onto your pedestal
we’ll do lunch
while the masses scream below.
Happy Thursday
I am missing Cupcake Thursday today…so I decided to consume another kind of cake made by Shimelle.
Inspiration from Design for Mankind
Design for Mankind Inspiration Issue Number 3 is out and all I can say at this point is wow. I am blown away. It is an incredible look at the spaces in people’s homes that inspire them… and now inspire me. How fortunate are we that Erin is doing this? Tis amazing, truly.
